What are you listening to? Pic related I sort of lost interest after her third album, but I've been catching up on her work and while I still wouldn't compare it to the first two albums I have been really enjoying it.
I really want to like Marina's new stuff, but I think I'll always just miss the era of Electra Heart, and at least half the songs from The Family Jewels (especially "Oh No!" and "Hermit The Frog"). None of her new music hits me the same. As for what I'm currently listening to, I always end up coming back to this album, no matter how many years it's been. I love angry female vocals. Lingua Ignota is really good, too.

even though it's old, pic related (innerspeaker) is still one of my favorite albums and i never tire of it. i picked it up again after not hearing it for a while and honestly don't think there's any music that hits me in the same way. every single song is a classic. can't say that about many albums, imo. currents was beyond disappointing (literally what in the fuck was "cause i'm a man"? please someone tell me), lonerism was overhyped and boring, and his/"their" newest album is already off to a bad start.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17UL5ks9amY >>98 I think I saw her say in an interview that at first she was mostly self-taught and strained her voice too much, which caused problems on the Electra Heart tour. Then she trained to sing without damaging her voice and she sings in a more classical style now. I can't blame her, she wanted to keep her career long term. There's definitely something 'missing' in her newer stuff but I still love her and she can still sing. Link related is my favorite post-Electra song.
>>172 I love everything DiscoCat puts out. The way he reworks his magic on the classics.. damn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymkFgXqblCs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGgsVRk96Qo The Dresden Dolls were so good
>>211 I love them! Always a staple in my driving playlists. I've been really enamored with France Gall recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR_kwVf5xC0
so has anyone listened to the new nick cave and the bad seeds album? i haven't listened since dig, lazarus, dig (which was pretty meh imo). is it worth a listen? i rarely listen to music anymore. i also skipped his last album because the name titles sounded awful.
Can anyone recommend some screamo/emo/post-hardcore bands that still exist? I'm getting huge waves of nostalgia but every band I liked in the past seperated.
>>285 Do you like Trash Talk, anon? That's the first one that came to mind for me.
I never really sat down and listened to her until recently because I didn't think I'd enjoy it, but I've been listening to Doja Cat. All of her music is very catchy. I really like her personality. She seems surprisingly down to earth. She's pretty talented.

What do you guys think about this song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kVdCaczLE8
>>238 Sounds like a James Bond title theme. I'm not comparing it to the new one either, just in in general. Don't ask me to elucidate, I can't. Just feel my vision.
>>590 anxiety inducing
>>533 What is it with everyone liking Doja Cat??? I can't stand it, everyone praises her like she's some kind of feminist icon, best rapper girl in da world uwu. She's just some Nicki Minaj wannabe that likes to ""rap"" about her big ass and mocks Cardi B in public because she's salty. I've seen so many girls acknowledge they listen to her music without feeling ashamed... Even "feminist" ones. I get her songs are catchy, I've listened to some of them, but as a guilty pleasure more than anything. How are they any different from Nicki Minaj, Cardi B or Iggy Azalea? I've been struggling to find female rappers who don't sing about boobs, ass, clothes/makeup or getting fucked. It's depressing. Video related is an old-school female rapper. "Bitch Boss" is the fucking opposite. https://youtu.be/f8cHxydDb7o
>>594 ayrt, they're no different. idk I just think she's cute and has a cute personality. the beef between Cardi and her is like the mildest thing I have ever seen. hardly even worth any mention. idk about feminist kween or whatever, I just think she's funny and creative
>>594 sorry "samefag" and/or "double posting" as lc team would say, but just finished and the queen Latifah song was cool. queen Latifah has a very amiable vibe about her (as a woman to a woman, not sure how emotionally receptive she'd be to men etc). idk I just like doja cause her personality is cute and the songs are catchy, honestly. not the deepest shit in the world, just catchy trash.
>>592 Interesting...I find that there is anxiety at the beginning produced by urgency and seriousness, but then it becomes somewhat of a grand mission with a sense of accomplishment at 3:13. Like overcoming a final battle in the hero's journey. Did you like the music though?
>>608 not really, because it gives me anxiety. after 3:13 it is less anxiety inducing, but still gives me anxiety. overall not into it. too high energy for me. i'm sure other anons might like it though.
>>615 What songs do you like?
https://youtube.com/watch?v=hAy-1NraoR4 I DON'T WANT TO WASTE ANOTHER DAY AWAY FROM LOVING YOOOUUUUUUUUUUU it's weebshit, kill me
>>607 huh, been seeing her around but never listened. nice song. >>624 i listen to complete garbage music that distracts me from the seriousness of all the shitty things in my life, so really just, straight guilty pleasure music that i won't go into because it's the worst of the worst that easily tops eurobeat weebshit. the music you post is nice, just stressful
https://youtu.be/9D3Nv8CvjSY This appeared on my Spotify. Didn't expect the singer to look like that tbh.
https://youtu.be/9yEjT_pIkhU I was about to wonder how someone could write such a haunting love song about The Karate Kid, but then I remembered that Ralph Macchio in KK and The Outsiders was my childhood crush. Maybe I'll watch the movie again just to remember what I saw in him.
>>636 lmfao I did not expect this post to be about Ralph maccio
>>630 >I listen to complete garbage music that distracts me from the seriousness of all the shitty things in my life, so really just, straight guilty pleasure music that i won't go into because it's the worst of the worst that easily tops eurobeat weebshit Ok now you have to tell us.
Am I the only one that thinks live concerts look lame as fuck?? All the artists I follow sound awful live. I sometimes like to look up their concerts on Youtube, just to see if it would be worth attending one. But they're a total disappoinment. They rely to much on the music track, they don't even sing half of the time and they don't have any stage presence. There are many bands and singers from the past who managed to put on a good show Hell, I even have a CD from a now disbanded group with live songs who sound just like the recording. Whatever happened to music... Recently, I heard this woman live and it was incredible. I know the song is a Tik Tok meme or whatever, but she has such a powerful voice... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crgFPl2eaPE
>>783 i've never understood concerts in general. they're very awkward for me and the music rarely ever sounds anywhere near as good. so you're crammed like a sardine next to weirdos that spill their beer all over you, 30 bucks poorer, and all to listen to shit quality music that you could've just heard in your living room. even worse if you're not tall, you can't see shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-ORhEE9VVg I don't listen or like Taylor Swift, but this song appeared on my timeline and I just realized that this is actually a good fucking satire bop on what the media has to say about female celebrities' dating life. It's funny how when women date, there's so much rumors and assumptions about how women behave in the relationship, and men are just expected to... "be men"... I remember when Taylor Swift got so much shit for "changing boyfriends and writing about them" too often, and what about it? As if pop male artists don't do that..
>>799 >>799 Actually believing for one second she has anything to do with her songs, anon I'm sure "Taylor" the person maybe nice and pleasent but Taylor swift is as fake as Mickey mouse, every decision she does is pre approved by some marketing team, same with Beyonce
>>799 I agree with you. She has some catchy songs I listen to when I feel demonized as hell. "Shake it off" is another example >I stay out too late, got nothin' in my brain >That's what people say. >I go on too many dates, but I can't make 'em stay Anyway, it has been confirmed she's not a feminist. I'm not surprised. I still listen to some of her songs, but as a guilty pleasure more than anything.
>>800 ?? I didn't mention anything or praised her "artistic integrity" aside from how people perceived it. I just correlated the song being a bop to media gossips about celebrities' dating life. It's already pretty obvious and given how much mainstream/billboard music is as superficial as it is.
Fiona Apple's new album came out. I'm really not sure what she's thinking. Anyone listen to it yet? Her last one had some elements that I was iffy about, but there's just nothing engaging about this album. Her singing doesn't match the music to me at parts of many of the songs. This song is so irritating. Her music used to be so beautiful, rip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n46e8m2pOAw

what are your guys' favorite female rage bops? i need some new music and i've been listening to a lot of woman fronted punk and would like some more in that vein (or really anything with pissed off female vocals/lyrics)
>>1151 Oops sorry this is literally who you posted the picture of, well it can't hurt to have it linked on this website
>>1149 Check out Zheani, she's got some great stuff. Called out Ninja from Die Antwoord for being a rapist piece of shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY6hCE2D-cc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8QJmI_V3j4 Never gets old. She had such great music videos too.
she is so cool and anti-capitalist https://youtu.be/TO2c06p6m5w
Been listening to one of my faves again lately. https://timbre.bandcamp.com/album/sun-moon pro-tip - look up bandcamp-dl
