Friendly reminder that this is what "sex work is work" advocates for.

This will actually empower women in the long term, the oldest profession has finally been legitimised, this is a step forward for all women involved in the sex industry

>>439 'prositution is the oldest profession' is a quote from a 19th century chauvinist legitimizing prostitution only increases demand for it and increases trafficking and women being coerced into the industry as a result. The nordic model of punishing johns and pimps and providing rehabilitation/options for the women to exit prostitution is proven to be the only solution that actually works And then there's all the issues of commodifying women's bodies and how that lends to misogyny Women engaging in sex work need help. First world women who think sex work is fun, empowering, or profitable need to find other sources of income/self esteem. Men don't need access to prostitutes. They'll masturbate to anything. Let them jerk their little shrimps themselves
>>444 For sex workers to be able to perform their trade freely and without fear of persecution from authorities is a step in the right direction for all women People don't respect sex workers enough and that's a shame, they are more often viewed as victims of their circumstances rather than professional women who choose to live freely, enjoying their lives without placing outdated and unnecessary restrictions on themselves, and this needs to stop If only more countries took a similarly progressive stance
I was listening to a podcast about the state of libfems and leftist mainstream politics in general and someone mentioned how severe the child trafficking is at the Mexican border. How majority of these children being "separated from their parents", most of these families are not related and are using them for sex trafficking. They mentioned how there's girls who go across the border by "coyotes" to be raped possibly 40 times a night. This is honestly devastating. I feel extra horrible because I'm a third generation Mexican American and had no idea what actually happens. I just believed what the libfems were regurgitating until I heard this person mention and question why they don't actually care about these immigrants.
>>449 I had that suspicion tbh. What podcast is it?
>>445 >People don't respect sex workers enough Sex workers aren't respected because men don't respect women. Look at men trying to doxx and stalk camworkers, and stealing their photos and sharing them around. There are reasons women dislike them, some are purity bullshit and petty. Others are frustrated that privileged women who can choose their clients pretend to speak for all of the industry, when most women want out. They further male demand and entitlement, as well as play into degenerate fetishes and pedophilic tendencies. Orgasm is a powerful conditioning tool. >they are more often viewed as victims of their circumstances rather than professional women who choose to live freely They are victims of their circumstances in most cases. Most women aren't making that much and the "market" is saturated. They aren't "professional women" working for clients, they're desperate women serving the basest male desires to survive. If they need to be paid to perform sexual acts, money is being used to coerce them. If money is being used to coerce a woman into having sex with a man, that's rape. >If only more countries took a similarly progressive stance yes, let's see more sex trafficking occur as scrotes realize they can get away with it. how much reading on this have you done?
>>451 >There are reasons women dislike them, some are purity bullshit and petty. Others are frustrated that privileged women who can choose their clients pretend to speak for all of the industry, when most women want out. They further male demand and entitlement, as well as play into degenerate fetishes and pedophilic tendencies. Orgasm is a powerful conditioning tool. Perfect anon. Whenever I'm discussing sex work I have to take a lot of care to not come across as a tradcon or make it sound like I'm judging sex works for the same sexist reason other people do. I think that we as radfems must take care about this cause sometimes some us sounds like this
>>450 I can't find the podcast at the moment, I listen to like 5 different ones each day. However I have found an article that touches upon this in a more lengthy matter. https://www.eluniversal.com.mx/articulo/paola-felix-diaz/migracion-el-inframundo-de-la-explotacion-sexual-infantil And a lot of these cases are just what's reported, which is about 1% who get caught
>>449 genuinely, i don't think these people don't care about these kids being trafficked. i think it's more that they don't realize that it is as much of a problem as it is, and it's very difficult to discuss these issues without unintentionally delegitimizing asylum seekers, especially in the eyes of xenophobes/racists. i think people feel they need to tread very lightly, and they wouldn't be wrong about the need to strategically discuss these issues in the most opportune moments to avoid potentially stirring up unwarranted hatred for immigrants, asylum seekers, or anyone who they just think "looks Mexican". easily, especially since the rise of trump, a national conversation about the exploitation of children would/will almost certainly turn into "Mexican asylum seekers are just lying child traffickers and rapists", which would turn into "anyone who 'looks Mexican' is probably a child rapist and/or child trafficker". i think it's a tough thing to navigate and people are crazy. there's a lot at stake.
>>461 Remember when Bella Thorne joined OF, made bank by doing the absolute least in like 24 hours, and when OF decided to change up their policy for collecting payments Thorne was made the scapegoat for this new policy? Remember how twitter sws and allies were big mad because "Thorne doesn't need to be here" "She's taking away $ from those who actually need it" "Something something she hurt struggling swers by 'scamming' her customers which single handedly caused OF to punish everyone else." Here is the "cushiest" form of "sex work" being exposed for being the dog eat dog world that it is. Where these OF models get mad that a tabloid "celebrity" was able to "scam" customers for $200 for a generic artistic nude while they are out here doing the most and selling their content for cheaper than a McChicken alongside ten million other OF models doing the same thing, all struggling together trying to find their niche market that is slowly starting to become saturated. This isn't even getting into dealing with the horror of customers that >>451 pointed out. And this retard over here thinks to tout the literal 0.001% as examples of "hot marketing geniuses living the good life" kek.
>>464 OF is not comparable, it's just a form of freelancing. Some people make it and some don't, it's not the "job" that's the problem but them being dumb and not having a plan B.
>>465 OF is a microcosm. If too many financially desperate women all attempt to chase the bag you'll get similar results. And again, that isn't even mentioning the horror of dealing with clients.
>>464 Well you can't expect a quadriplegic, for example, to stand a chance in an athletic contest Actually there are plenty of examples of attractive and successful women in the industry
Stoked that another anon besides me is here to call out swerfs. >Others are frustrated that privileged women who can choose their clients pretend to speak for all of the industry, when most women want out. These women are the ones we're asking you to respect. By the way, they also do it to survive, just like engineers do engineering to survive, or professional artists make art to survive. Then you say that you support sex workers because you recognise that they are forced into it for survival. They're forced, it's not a choice they made, they wouldn't choose to do that. But you come over as hugely lacking in respect for women who choose to do sex work. >I have to take a lot of care to not come across as a tradcon or make it sound like I'm judging sex works for the same sexist reason other people do. But you do sound like a tradcon. You're all saying 'I respect sex workers as long as they didn't do it on purpose' like okaay it's kind of a gotcha don't you think?
Why even bother replying to the troll? They bring up no examples, reddit space and just spew autistic shit like "have confidence in yourself" when it comes to fucking camgirl nonsense. Literally a >>399 moment.
>>469 >You're all saying 'I respect sex workers as long as they didn't do it on purpose' like okaay it's kind of a gotcha don't you think? That's retarded as fuck. like you can't respect people who make dumb choices? i don't agree with every choice people make. it doesn't mean i don't have respect for them. it's people who habitually make malicious choices that i don't respect, and i think most people who i agree with on this issue are the same way. tradcons genuinely don't respect these women because they think they're dirty. there's a huge difference and anon sounds nothing like a tradcon. these women and girls are conned and plied by society in general and in plenty of cases, directly, by men who stand to make a considerable profit off of them putting their health and safety at risk. i don't not respect vulnerable people who are desperate and conned by Herbalife or whatever MLM into believing their investment and dedication to it will afford them a better life. wanting these people to be critical of sex work as an industry so as not to contribute to a larger problem or end up harmed (in a multitude of ways) doesn't mean you don't have respect for them. it's also all very convenient, all these women who are actively in sex work, of course, tend to praise it, just as coal miners refuse to let go of their exploitative line of work and resist retraining, even FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY, but many of these women are candid about the emotional, psychological and physical damage they once they leave the industry and have a moment to step back. most people don't even realize the toxicity they'd been mired in until they are removed from harmful situations or environments.
>>477 This. Some radfems are way too concerned with shoving the ideologue on women prone to sexual violence instead of expressing empathy and genuine help. Sex work is definitely not work, but my beliefs doesn't mean I should just shit on prostituted women who disagree.. If you guys encounter a camgirl who is clearly trying to cope and was groomed with how she makes a living, you don't fucking call her a libfem handmaiden. It's pathetic when radfems who think they "know better" would rather initiate fights on Twitter rather than learning to find common ground while ALSO spreading awareness on the consequences of "sex work." No wonder we got alt-right assholes masking as radfems/allies in our movement.
>>482 ayrt here, to be clear(er) i was saying anon's strawman was retarded as fuck. like, you can be critical of someone's choices and still respect them. a lot of sex positive people claim that radfems "don't respect" sex workers because they believe their choices aren't made fully by them and because they believe that these industries are insidious, and that's what the anon i was responding to was saying. that anons in this thread were saying they don't respect them because they "choose" it. i haven't seen anyone say that or suggest it. i agree with what you're saying though, it's stupid to just call people "libfem handmaidens" about this. they're just going to get pissed and dig their heels in. that goes for anything though. i don't see anything wrong with us being frank with each other and being loose with our wording amongst ourselves if we feel that someone is sooo servile to men to their own detriment (and to the detriment of others), but it's just a bad idea to come at swers like that. more flies with honey and all that.
